Dentistry
Occlusion treats jaw joint problems.
This is the speciality of Dentistry that deals with bite relationships between dental arches and their implications for attached structures (teeth, gum, bones, muscles, ligaments, temporomandibular joint).
Some manifestations of problems for which occlusion is responsible are the clicks when opening and/or closing the mouth, pain or discomfort in the face and masticatory muscles, ear and neck pain, sensation of reducing hearing, vertigo and tinnitus, headaches and increased frequency of migraines. There may also be limitations in opening the mouth, blockage and deviation of the jawbone, chewing difficulties and abnormal wear of the tooth surfaces.
